eBay

I couldn't find another the item like the doll in my story, but I remember hearing a story about a "killing doll" being sold on eBay. The doll sold for about a thousand dollars and the picture was of a trunk chained up. The doll needs to be locked up or it will kill, so the story goes.

Story:
There is this guy and he moves into a new house with his girlfriend and dog. The guy selling the doll first gets it, because he buys a new house and the people who lived there before leaves the trunk there. The guy's girlfriend takes the doll and places it in there room to keep it there. A few days later the girlfriend leaves him and he doesn't know why, but when she left she seemed scared. The guy didn't know what was going on, but he didn't like the doll in his room so he puts it back down in the trunk that's in the basement. The next day he goes to work and when he get back his dog is died, he was stabbed with a knife and on his bed was the doll. He doesn't know what the doll was doing there and who killed his dog, so he puts the doll in the trunk again and buries his dog. The next day after work the doll was on his bed again, so he puts it in the trunk again then he eats and goes to bed. That night when he was sleeping he hears a noise on his steps, then there is a noise at his door. He answers the door and all that is there is the doll and a knife, he's not sure what's going on and thinks that someone keeps breaking into his house. He puts the doll back down in the trunk. The next day he takes a nap on the couch and he gets attacked by the doll with a knife. After the attack he locks it up in the trunk like it was when he bought the house. And the doll was up for sale on eBay just to get rid of the doll, and there is a warning to not let the doll out of the trunk.

My brother told me this story when he was on eBay and showed me the trunk on there. The way he told the story it was scary to hear, but it just sounds crazy after thinking about it again. And for the someone to buy this doll that you don't really know what it look likes and if it is even in the trunk is just crazy to do.

Paper/Movies

Since I wasn't sure if we needed to have the blog about the movie before class or in class, so I wrote about the movie before class just in case. The movie was good, but I couldn't see the whole thing with people were in my the way and it was dark at times on the screen and hard to see the film.

Watching the movies in class was very helpful to understand what you were wanting in the papers, since they were all related to what paper we were working on. The amount seemed right (one for each paper), because some of the papers could have been written in a different way and not exactly what you were looking for and if you would have done less the papers that didn't have a movie for viewing would not be as successful for the students in completing in the way it was to be about and if there was more movies then the students wouldn't have cared so much about the papers and think that the class would be a "easy float by" class with only watching movies. The amount of movies would depend on the amount of papers and how long the class periods were, because if the class was only an hour the students wouldn't understand relating the movie to the paper so clearly since the movie would be spilt into two days of watching and the movies message could get lost, so the purpose for watching the movie could get lost too.

The paper should be easy once I have picked a moment in my live to write about, but right now I don't know what I'm going to write about. On the other blog I wrote about the paper then too, and the time was worrying me: one I thought the paper had to be done on Wednesday and two not knowing a topic of my live story to write about. Now I'm not so worried, because the paper isn't due until Monday (more time to work on it than I thought) and with the work days I think I will be able to choose something to write about and complete it on time (or even early).

Movie ONCE

The movie we watched in class was about the two people's lives when they were meeting each other.  In the movie they were working with songs and weren't getting a break in live.  They decide to record some of the main male character's songs.  The time span of the movie was a week or so of their live and at the end of the movie they seemed to be doing better.

This movie will help me with my next paper, because it shows a time in the main characters lives that was being focused.  And this is a good method for the paper.  Since I don't know what the guide lines for the paper are it is hard to know if this is the concept for the paper or not.  I think that it is suppose to be an autobiography and the paper is a few page samples or focus on a certain situation or moment mentioned in the autobiography. 

I not really sure on what I'm going to write about in my paper, hopefully after I see the guidelines I will be able to pick out a topic in my life for my paper. The paper will most likely have some sort of part about my family, because we are big and are close with each other.  I'm not sure if I will talk about one of our favorite stories we like to remember about or just them in general.  The paper can be from my past, present, or a made up future and with these choices I'm not entirely such what time period or age frame I will choose for my paper.

Favorite Toy

When I was born I got a purple teddy bear and I named it Purpley. It was my favorite toy, because it was my first toy. I had it in perfect condition up until four to five years ago. Our new dog at the time got a hold of it and chewed up its ear, but I still have to this day. Now we no longer have that dog, but whatever toy she got a hold of she would chew it up and we would have to throw it away after a day or two, so I had to protect it until she got hurt.

Now I care for all types of animals and people. When I got a bit older I would play a computer game about running a zoo and now I take care of the little children in my family when we get together; I also take care of little toddlers when I do my volunteer work. I think that all of these developed in my interest to care for animals and children from my teddy bear. I would take care of it and cuddle with it and I started liking more and more animals, because I would want to make and have friends for my bear.

I'm majoring in art now and that doesn't have anything to do with my bear, but the next to choices for a career would to help and take care of little children, like at a day care- maybe like the area that I do my volunteer work, or to take care of animals and work with at a zoo possible. My siblings always talk to me about being with the little kids at family things, I say that it is because I the youngest. They don't think so and thinks that I should go into childcare for a career. I don't know if that means they don't like my art or don't think I can get a good job with my art major or if it is nice of them to suggest that I'm good with children. Complement or Insult- I don't really know?

TV Show

A show that my family has always watch (at least for as long as I can remember) is the Simpson's. When I was little we would watch it every night and every time airing it was playing. Before every episode we would try and guess what one was going to be play that night. Our guessing game wouldn't work now, because they tell you what is happening on the episode that is going to be playing.

The shows are very funny even the bad story written for the show have funny parts. The oldest episodes are the best and the newer ones aren't that good anymore; it seems they are running low on show ideas. There is one movie and they are planning to make two more movies still. There has been about 17 or 19 (something like that) seasons made; which is the longest show still running, so it must be pretty good. They were going to stop making new episodes, but they still are making them; and they could still make new shows until they are done making the other movies.

The main characters are of the Simpson family: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. They are funny to watch and to see what dumb things they are going to say or do. There are many other people who live in there town, Springfield, and can have main roles in a show. There has even been Christmas and Halloween show. They are very funny and think that you should watch the old show to see the humor in the show (really good and funny to watch).

Emotion

My family has done some very crazy things in our past; and when we get together now and talk about those situations it is extermly funny to all of us. Sometimes we talk about my parents when they were younger or about us kids growing up.

My mom has a few good stories like: her whole family was outside playing and went inside to eat, she must of been about five or so; it smelled really bad and they couldn't figure out where it was coming from- it turned out that my mom sat in dog poop, and her brother and sisters would play funny games such as bull fighting; during this my uncle would hold the sheet in front of the refrigerator and my mom would run right into it, since she was the bull. With there being four of us kids within five years we got into lots of trouble. Some starting even before I was born: there was cows that would always try eating my oldest sister when she was a baby, my second older sister would yell out of the car at the police station, "We're murders, we're murders come get us," good thing they never came after them, and my older brother would play with an iron instead of his trucks- he made his own truck out of that. There are many other stories and some of our favorite ones weren't even mentioned yet, but when we get together it is a good funny time for all of us; even when they aren't part of our family who are hearing the stories.

When I watch TV, I keep it on the same channel most of the time when I'm watching a particular show. With "channel flipping" I don't do it that often; my brother does it all the time and I don't like watching TV with him that often for that reason. I don't mind when I'm not watching anything or if I don't really like whatever was on. Some of the time I flip, but I don't do it all the time. With the advertisements I don't really look at them that much. The only time when I do is when something catches my eye, such as: the product, colors, songs, or even the actors in them. These same reasons are the same for if I don't like the advertisement. There are many I don't like and half I don't listen to, because I only pay attention to the ones directed to my age group. So when the advertisements come on I work on something or talk to somebody or think about the show I was watching to try and figure out what will happen next. The advertisements that I do pay attention to are usually movies. I like to watch movies and I like to watch their advertisements too. The other advertisement I don't really like and I hate when it gets to voting time, because politic advertisements are on all the time. They bug me lots, you never know who is telling the truth. Other advertisements bug me about adult things that I don't have to worry about and when that time comes I will have my parents help and I don't need to watch the TV to get that information; I wouldn't trust them that much really with whatever they are doing.

Spring Break

Over spring break, most of the time was at work. Between the ten day break, counting the Friday before plus the weekends, Melanie was at work for eight of them. She put in a total of about 54 hours between those days. On her spare time outside of work, she painted a little and worked on her fibers project. With staying a her parents house, she saw them a lot and went to her oldest sister's house to help with her sister's wedding in the summer and to spend time with her nephew. She also saw her brother the first couple days and talked to her other sister to help with this sister's baby showers. The amount of work put into her break made her tired. At the end of spring break she found out that her aunt was in the hospital and wasn't doing well. That Monday after break she came back to campus and went to class at 8 A.M. Later that night she got a call from her oldest sister and was told that she smashed up her car that morning and she was making plans for this weekend. She was worried about not reaching their parents to tell them and Melanie had to tell her about their aunt which made her sister worried (her sister gets worried easily and freaks out about that). Since being back on campus, she has went to class and worked on her homework. She still hasn't heard how her aunt is doing since Sunday. With being sad about her aunt she hasn't done anything fun since she's been back, but tonight she is going to see her friends again for the first time from being back and they are going to watch the movie playing on campus tonight.

Family

My family is big and only getting bigger.  There is my mom and dad and I have three siblings.  My oldest sister is 24 and has a six year old son; she is getting married this summer in July; she lives with her soon to be husband and son in Geneva.  Then my other sister is 22 and soon to 23 and is going to have her first child within the next few weeks; she lives with her husband in Rochester.  My brother lives here in Mankato and is majoring in economics.  My parents live in Ellendale and don't do that much other than work and relax.  This last February they went to Hawaii for two weeks to celebrate their 25th anniversary.  Over spring break I worked and that was about it.  Most of my family is doing well and we are getting together for Easter.  This Easter could be very different from any other for us because there is two possible things happening.  My sister wants to have her baby on Easter day because that is her husband's birthday and she was born on my dad's birthday so she thinks that it would be neat to have a girl on her husbands birthday.  The other different event wouldn't be a birthday because that has happened before but instead there might be a funeral.  My aunt isn't doing well, she doesn't have enough of a lung capacity to breath well anymore.  She went into the hospital this weekend and is now in urgent care.  I hope for the best, but it isn't sounding good.  So overall my spring break hasn't been the greatest:  I worked lots, help with my sister's wedding, helped with my other sister's baby shower, and my aunt isn't well.

I don't think it will be hard to top spring break next year though.

A Modest Proposal

Jonathan Swift was purposing to help his country with the poverty was to feed on infants of one year. In all reality he didn't actually propose this idea and didn't want it to happen. He just was trying to come up with something to say for his country to do. This was merely a joke and that he didn't actually wanted to eat infants. I already read this in my High School 12th grade English class and we discussed what it was saying, so I was able to understand the reading and reading it again I was able to picture it more clearly this time through on everything he was saying.

Monday

The movie was very interesting. You can really see the amount of resources that are being wasted. In showing the resources being wasted they also had other ways to of making the same items the resources did but weren't using the natural resources. Some examples is using hemp to make paper instead of trees. Hemp was something they used a lot of; with paper, clothes, and even the gas in the van. It was amazing that they biked the whole way and talked to schools to inform them about what they were seeing and what it is doing to the Earth. The way that they filmed the movie made it more interesting, because there was information but also funny stuff too. When they were being funny they were making it not like a documentary with just talking, instead you could see them throughout the whole journey and that it was real people and that they were making a difference in the world and trying to get others too. I would have liked to try something like this, but I don't have the time or money to. It would be interesting to think of what my friends and I would be doing if we were in a van like that. And the more people to do this the more information would be out and others would actually do something different and we would be able to help the Earth.

Name

Melanie is from the greek origin meaning black or dark.

My mom said she asked my dad what to name me between Melanie and some other name and he chose my name, because he didn't hear the other name that my mom had said. My dad says he heard both names and just picked one, so I'm not to sure. I think my mom pick Melanie for one of the choices to be named after my grandpa Melvin. She hasn't really told me if that was why it was in the choices.

I have many nicknames and some are far from my name. Most people call my Mel for short, but my sister calls me Malrie because she was had a few to drink and we were playing cards and she wrote my name wrong. My brother and friends called me Stella for a while, because we were watching "Deroit Rock City" and Stella means disco chick on that movie (even though I don't like most disco songs). A lot of people call me many different names when they first meet me, because they don't remember it; at work it took one of my managers two months to get my name right.

Resreaching & Paper

Resreaching

Resreaching for the paper can be done in different ways. At home I will be able to look up some articles and book codes, so once I get to there I can find them right away. Most of it was used on the computers which some of the looking up sreaches are confussing. It was hard to find the right information that I was looking for and I had to be careful that it wasn't just some other books that wasn't for resreaching. It would have been most likely easier if I already had exactly what my topic was going to be on; instead of just an idea. With my idea it made it difficult to find the right types of books. When I looked up art there was many books, but a lot weren't useful and it was hard to find the ones that fitted in with my topic ideas. But when I tried looking up a certain artist I was thinking about it wasn't useful, because there was only a couple a books and in the art look up there were some that would have worked to for the artist look up too, but wasn't on that list.

Paper

The paper should go fine. I don't have a complete topic yet, but I have only a couple ideas left and I'm going to chose the one that I can find more information on. With the draft due next week I'm not worried, because I'm going to work on the paper over the weekend and should finish my draft on Monday I would think. It shouldn't be that hard to do, most of it is siting and then I will just have to remember to document it correctly. Between my last choices of the topic it would be simular whatever one I choose. They deal with an art piece, a couple to chose from still, but it shouldn't be that hard to find information on them and I have my art history book to use too and they are in that book.

Cold Weather

Cold weather can be great, because when you picture a nice relaxing night or day- I picture myself in warm comfy clothes and cuddling up in a big chair and reading a book with a fire going. When there is cold weather I love to take a hot bubble bath and cuddle up with a book and blanket, there isn't a fire in the fireplace though. My favorite weather is when it is raining so that I have an excuse to just relax. With cold weather there is an excuse also. But if I have to go to work or go to class, I don't really do anything different except wear a coat, hat, and gloves and I also start my car up and heat up for about ten minutes. I should wear more clothes and take care of myself better, but I don't. I do wear thicker clothes, but I usually shower before I go to work and I don't blow dry my hair ever. I go outside with my wet hair then and it freezes up right away, but I have never got sick. I shouldn't take the chance that I do and blow dry my hair, it would take long- for me about ten minutes. The only time I go to work with dry hair out in the cold is when I get ready early or curl my hair.

"Same Blood" by The Academy Is...

My friend is a huge Academy Is fan and because of her I have started to listen to them. My favorite song of theirs is "Same Blood," from the soundtrack Santi. The song "Same Blood" is about not judging people for who they are and that we're all the same. Many people in the world today are judgemental and it makes it harder for people to leave their lives. This type of situations cause fights between people and countries with war. The soundtrack is fast and up beat which I'm able to listen to and just work and get lots of work done. As an artist it is easier to work with music that you like and can be inspired by and this soundtrack does that for me.

favorite place

My favorite place that I have ever been to is Washington D.C., unlike my brother. He doesn't like it because of the high crime rate. When I went there was about forty of us, because my high school offered us the trip. We were only there for three days and I would have liked to stay longer. At the time we were there it was in March with a temperature in the sixties and the Cherry Blossom trees were in full bloom. We visited many memorials and museums. My favorite site there is the Holocaust Museum, because the information and videos they have in there are very interesting. At the beginning of the museum you are given a card of an actual Holocaust person and you can see what they had to go through and experience in there life. What I like the most about the city is all the marble and the structures of the building plus, to me, it didn't seem like I was in a city by the height policy for the buildings to only be as high as sixteen floors, I believe it was sixteen. Being there with so many people and my friends made it a lot of fun. There are some really funny moments that happened that I won't forget. I like the city is beautiful and would love to go there again.
